Inman Aligners

What are Inman aligners?

Inman Aligners, also known as clear aligners, are dental appliances that are used to change the positioning of the teeth. This device is pre-adjusted, and it’s used to correct crowding or the protrusion of the teeth in the front of the mouth. Within only the matter of a few weeks, the anterior teeth can gently be guided into the correct position. For most patients, the clear, Inman aligners produce spectacular results within only 6 to 18 weeks depending on how complex the patient’s issues are. Teeth can even be rotated into the correct position using this device.

Clear aligners are an excellent solution for patients with front teeth that stick out or that are crooked or crowded. Results from this type of treatment have been described as revolutionary because the Inman aligner bridges the gap between cosmetic dentistry and orthodontic practices. Results from the procedure are usually seen quickly and affordably because unlike Invisalign, patients only need to purchase one device to complete the entire treatment protocol.

These aligners are made with Nickel Titanium coil springs that provide power to two bows that gently oppose one another. A squeeze effect causes the aligner bows to work together with the inner bow pushing the teeth forward and the outbow pulling back. Teeth move predictably in various directions until they find the correct position. This incredible system works consistently over time to guide the teeth into alignment. The force applied to the teeth is gentle, but it has a large range which is why the results become visible so quickly.

Treatment with these aligners is easy. It begins with dental impressions that are used to make the customized aligners. The device is constructed on 3D printed models that are extremely precise and able to be corrected based on occlusion and aesthetics. After the aligner has been constructed, it’s fitted to the patient’s mouth and the patient begins wearing the device for 16 to 20 hours per day. In some cases, patients may choose to wear the aligner for fewer hours per day but the treatment time will increase as a result. Check-ups are performed every 2 to 3 weeks during treatment.

After treatment with the aligners is complete, it is recommended that patients wear a retainer to keep the teeth in their proper positions. Bonded or Essix retainers are common options.

Benefits of Inman Aligners

There are a number of benefits to this type of treatment including:

  1. These aligners need do not need to be worn all day every day. Rather, patients can wear the device only 16 and 20 hours daily.
  2. The buccal and lingual spring coils can be pushed together to cause the teeth to rotate into position.
  3. While spring retainers are often very loose in the mouth, Inman aligners fit tightly which means they’re less likely to pop out of place.
  4. It is extremely cost-effective in comparison with other orthodontic treatment options and the results are nothing short of spectacular!
  5. Only one appliance is needed throughout treatment so, unlike Invisalign, which requires a series of clear trays, the Inman device does not have to be replaced during treatment.
  6. The aligner does not need to be forced into position, compromising the fit. The customized design ensures precision and comfort. It can be removed and then re-inserted into the mouth as easily as a traditional retainer.
  7. Inman aligners can be used as a stand-alone treatment as well as a pre-orthodontic treatment option.
